In agreement with the authorities, AVE builds schools in isolated areas in order to overcome the enclosing of the populations.
Those schools with remedial classes also take children who are outside the system and are behind in their schooling. Some of them, age 10, cannot read. After updating courses, they are then able to join the normal classes.
Since 1997, AVE has taken part in the building of 11 schools.
AVE also renovates schools. The humid climate of the country makes it necessary to look after the buildings and facilities regularly. Sanitary facilities, sewage treatment plant, dormitories, psychomotricity room, kitchen… Financing of improvements and modernisation represents significant and recurring costs.
